Titanium vs. Ceramic Matcha Bowl: Does Matcha Taste Different?

Titanium vs. Ceramic Matcha Bowl: Does Matcha Taste Different? - O5 RARE TEA BAR

Can a titanium matcha bowl actually change the way matcha tastes?

We recently brought a new double-wall titanium matcha bowl to O5 and started comparing it side by side with a traditional ceramic chawan. To our surprise, the same matcha seemed to taste different depending on the bowl.

In some tastings, the matcha felt smoother. In others, we noticed more sweetness. The titanium seemed to highlight certain characteristics differently from ceramic, creating a noticeably different experience with the same tea.

We’re not saying one is better than the other. That’s actually what makes the comparison interesting.

Different materials. Same matcha. A different experience.

The titanium chawan is lightweight and durable enough to travel with, but this unexpected difference in taste gave us another reason to keep experimenting with it.

We’d love to share the experiment with you.

Visit O5 Rare Tea Bar in Vancouver and try matcha whisked in our titanium chawan. Taste it for yourself, and tell us what you notice. 🍵
