ROBERT STICKNEY CHAWAN TY-3-1

TY-3 is a collection of 8 bowls presented by Robert Stickney.  We speak often about tea shokunin (職人), artisans who live and breathe their art.  Robert is an excellent example of an equivalent 職人 in the realm of ceramics.  With decades of experience yet the heart of child, he produces stunning tea bowls.

These bowls are wood-fired in BC (Burnaby or Langley).

Robert Stickney is a good friend and artist based in Vancouver, BC. 

After receiving a degree in architecture from the University of Manitoba and a BFA in ceramics at Lethbridge, Robert became fascinated with Japanese aesthetics. This led to a lifelong exploration of the culture and world of Japanese ceramics. Since retiring from teaching, Robert has focused on creating tea-ware, wood firing at the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts in Burnaby, BC. Robert is often an honoured guest at our tea bar. 

Each bowl is a unique piece that provides an unparalleled drinking experience.
