This is a special edition Xiaguan Tuocha iron cake (tie bing) created to celebrate the Year of the Wooden Goat (2015). It has been aging in Vancouver over the past 9 years. This tea offers the classic, full bodied mouthfeel characteristic of Xiaguan; the aging flavour is very clean, as it's been stored in the Pacific Northwest over almost a decade.
About this Tea:
Yiwèi (乙未): This is the 32nd term in the traditional Chinese 60-year cyclical calendar, corresponding to the Year of the Wood Goat in 2015. The date of production confirms this.
Zhonghua (中华): Meaning "China" or "Chinese," this is the name of a classic, long-running recipe series from Xiaguan.
Iron Cake (铁饼): This refers to the tea being compressed under extremely high pressure, resulting in a rock-hard, dense cake. This style is traditionally believed to be excellent for long-term aging, as it slows down the interaction with air.
