This delicious tisane is made with fireweed (Chamaenerion angustifolium). Ivan's tea is enjoyed by Russians, Central Asian nomads, and North American First Nations. It is reminiscent of a highly oxidized, flowery oolong.
The sweet brew, with barely any bitterness, is delicious both hot or iced.

Kseniya, from the O5 team, inherited a recipe to prepare fireweed tea from her family; this 2020 harvest is our second iteration and includes a few modifications from the original recipe.
Last year, intense sunshine allowed us to sundry the tea efficiently; this year's rainy weather drove us indoors. We harvested the leaves and flowers on June 30th; after bruising the leaves and allowing them to ferment 14 hours, we baked them at 65 degrees celsius over 18 hours.
