HIGH MOUNTAIN, LONG RIVER | SPECIAL EDITION 2017 SHOU PU ER
高山长水 (originally 高山长川) is a well known phrase that represents people who have a long lasting (ideally positive) impact. This was exactly Gao Feng's intention when he crafted this special edition tea.
Gao pressed these cakes in March 2020, using a variety of leaves from the 6 mountains around Menghai; he spiked this blend with some of his personal collection tea from Ban Zhang... and it's 💥. It is one of the juiciest, young, cooked Pu Er's you will find.
The first steep (after rinsing) feels almost like an ancient tree black (i.e. oxidized) tea, with some hints of fermentation. Fruit and flower aromas are dominant, with the leather and hay flavours often found in cooked Pu Er take a backseat. The tea is very enlivening, yet in a somehow relaxing way.
