COUNTRY STYLE SENCHA (ARACHA)
-
Try this tea if: you like your green tea vibrant, with strong notes of cedar forrest and an uplifting energy. This is NOT an overly refined sencha; it’s a very good expression of a wild looking, un-groomed yet powerful tea garden.
This tea is intentionally released as sencha aracha ("unrefined tea"); as such, it includes some stems, which provide a depth of flavour to this brew. The idea is to give the drinker a more complete expression of the tea plant.
ABOUT THE 2018 HARVEST
Katsuma San's 2018 is particularly tasty. A late spring resulted in lower yields; but the stress on the zaikai tea trees resulted in vibrant cedar notes in the brew.
ABOUT THE GROWER
Katsuma San excels at being in tune with nature. Living on a pristine hill with old zairai trees, he allows a beautiful "messiness" and biodiversity that is unique in this region of manicured gardens. Katsuma San is also a Shinto adept, a Noh practitioner, and a sustainable-minded hunter gatherer. His teas are an excellent expression of time and space at his farm.TEA INFO
