EXPERIENCE: notes of green rice, wild artemisia and apples. A superb green tea from one of our favourite micro-farms in the world.
This tea is both a first harvest (these trees were harvested earlier this year) and a late harvest (i.e. 'jungjak').KOREAN TEA HARVESTS:- The earliest harvest, traditionally plucked before the date called Gok-u (around April 20), is called oojeon (or woojeon).
- The second harvest, plucked between Gok-u and Ipha (May 5), is called sejak (or seajak).- The third harvest, after Ipha, is called jungjak.

ORIGIN: Scrawny little tea trees on rocky soil, growing amid a wide diversity of trees and weeds. KJY’s tea farm is the farthest possible thing from an industrial project. The tea shrubs are old (between 80 and 100 years); however, growing on a steep slope and very rocky soil, they are only 40-50cm tall. They grow amid peach, apple, persimmon and chestnut trees; wild artemisia, mushrooms and a bunch of un-identified weeds grow there too.
About The Grower
Kim Jong Yeol is one of our favourite farmers, anywhere. He left a corporate life in Busan to work on his family farm in Hadong. Some of the trees are over 80 years old, spread randomly across hill slopes. The teas are personally handcrafted in micro-batches. Each lot is unique; every lot is consistently outstanding.
