2018 ALI SHAN
Tea Grower’s Notes:Unusually low winter temperatures and a very late spring resulted in a smaller harvest; the effect of spring frost is visible on the leaves. The leaves feel a little bit thicker and are very fragrant.Tea Bartender's Notes:Throughout the past 5 years we have received exceptional tea from JJW, and 2018 is no exception. This harvest has notes of poached apples and a buttery finish. As in previous harvests from JJW, we expect the tea to mature over the next couple of months, revealing an even more complex array of aromas… but it is difficult to not drink it today.
Facts: fresh tea leaves are withered under handcrafted paper for several hours, then slowly fired with charcoal to produce this tea

ABOUT THE GROWER
Jian Jia Wen is one of our favourite farmers. He lives in a remote village, farms and assortment of old and young trees spread randomly across mountain slopes and handcrafts batches of no more than 10kg each. JJW and family handpick tea leaves when they feel that the time is right; and the follow exactly the same intuitive approach to handcraft the tea. Expect every single batch to be outstanding and unique.
