Earthy, rustic and funky; a non-classical yet very approachable expression of Hunan dark tea. This tea is a delicious sipper for an Autumn evening, or an intriguing base for a wild mushroom soup.
These are the organically grown, pile fermented, loose leaves that would have been pressed into bricks and aged as our tea classic, 'Workhorse'; for a traditional dark tea drinker, this product would be considered unfinished. However, in process and appearance, it is very similar to Toyama's Bata Bata Cha.
Unlike the workhorse bricks, this tea has not yet developed visible 'golden flower'. The brew is very mellow both on the palate and the stomach, with very low astringency.
