2012 Ancient Tree Golden Coins
Hidden in a dark corner of the warehouse, a bag of 2012 Nanjian PuEr remained safe from tea drinkers, until today. This very dark, very fermented tea is made with leaves from 400-500 year old trees, located in Nanjian (somewhere between Dali and Simao, in southern Yunnan).
The brew is very pleasant, with a light hint of spice. Once the leaves open, you can achieve pitch black darkness by steeping for ~10 seconds; the brew will be rich in rainforest soil (in a nice way) aromas, with a hint of spice in the aftertaste. Once you get past the 12th or 13th steep, the tea will have light woody and caramel notes.
Each coin is wrapped in unsightly, golden aluminum foil. On the bright side, it is a fairly efficient way to carry a few PuEr coins in your backpack while travelling, keeping things tidy.
The 6g portion of the coins is very convenient for a teapot or gaiwan under 120ml.
